I am currently a high school senior, and I committed to Gonzaga University. However, I am seriously second guessing my choice. The alternative would be ASU. I chose Gonzaga because it is ranked higher academically, and everyone who goes there seems to love it. I personally really liked ASU when visiting, but in the area I live, most people look down on the school, assuming the only reason people attend is that they didn't get in anywhere else. I am torn because though Gonzaga is the best school I got into, I'm worried it's not the best school for me. Whereas ASU is a huge public school, with Greek life and many clubs/majors, Gonzaga is a small private Jesuit school, which is noted for the sense of community it provides. So basically, these school's are complete opposites! It's not that I don't like Gonzaga, it just seems like I should like it the best because it's a good school. I'm so torn regarding what to do, as this decision really determines the rest of my life! I still am able to change my mind, but I would really like to come to a decision soon, so I don't spend my last few weeks of school as a nervous wreck! Any advice on what to do/ how to come to a final decision would be much appreciated!

Often what people here suggest is that you try to visit and overnight at each school (again). If you cannot do that, or even if you do, make a list of the pros and cons of each campus for you and see if that doesn’t help.

If your sole issue is that you really like one school more than another but that one school is perceived to be weaker academically, then go with where you’re certain you’re a better fit. Seldom do people do their best work in environments they dislike. College is what you make of it, which is to say that you might not do your best work at a better school. If you’re willing to work hard inside and outside the classroom and reach out to your professors and campus resources for study abroad, internships, etc., it matters relatively little where you go.

I would tend to think you should stick with your choice. It isn’t unusual to see people wondering what if…or getting cold feet. But your whole life does not depend on it. Likely what you major in will have more impact on that. But how you live your life and what you choose is the thing to focus on. I also know happy alums if it helps. The Jesuit schools do a really good job holistically with education. Although the people with the opinions about ASU are likely HS kids and not employers. That is something you likely should have tried to dismiss. But think on it a bit as suggested above. If your gut tells you to change and you still can then that will be fine.
