Can't do EDII-- how do I convey that it's my first choice?

Tufts is where I want to go, to put it straight. I'm in love with everything from its programs to its location; I'd love to ED(II) since I'd 100% attend if accepted. However, because of money issues it would probably not be very smart to apply to a school and not be able to compare aid packages.

So my question is, how do I tell Tufts that they're my first choice? I know at my info session for Barnard the woman said we should let the school know that we'd ED if possible, but I don't know if that's something all schools would be OK with. Should I mention it in an interview, an essay, something else, or not at all? I just really want them to know I'm basically in love with the school :( Thanks everyone!

Aw shucks, 209 views and no responses? :(

The first supplement essay is “Why Tufts” with a word limit of 50-100 words. I guess you could mention you would apply EDII but couldn’t because of financial reasons somewhere in your essay but I’d be wary about how you approach it. Best of luck on your application :)

I would also look into this previous thread if haven’t done so already which pretty much answers your question. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tufts-university/1258045-showing-interest-when-i-didnt-visit.html

I agree with DJacks write it on the Why Tufts portion. Another way that could help is that if you are a national merit semifinalist, you could list Tufts as your first choice in the national merit application so that you are guaranteed their national merit scholarship (I think it’s at least 5000). If you are still feeling paranoid, you could respond to one of the optional essays and somehow discuss how you are in love with Tufts and it is your first choice.

i’m not positive but i feel like there’s a clause in the ED contract that says if you can’t afford it without more financial aid, you are allowed to turn it down.
