Ok so I'm applying for the Huntsman program and they're really into foreign language. They recommend that I send an SAT subject test in a foreign language. I took the Chinese test and scored a 740, which is not good. Thats the 20th percentile if i remember correctly... Whats worse is that I'm Chinese. They might either think "why doesnt this kid know his own language?" or they might think "ok he might have knowledge of chinese culture"

I would because 740 is still a good score. It’s 20th percentile because the majority of people that go to take it are ESL. You can leave it out if you wish as long as you got the point across that you are fluent / speak your own language though.

i didnt apply for huntsman but i just wanted to add that I wouldnt break 600 either lol. dont feel bad. all i did was fool around in chinese school :-/. go ahead and submit it…i mean what other language test have you taken? if you havent taken any others, then submitting the 740 is obviously your only choice

wangatang i have some info that will be very important to u. I just got admitted into huntsman with my target lang as hindi (my native lang) and still we are allowed to change our languages right till college starts so dont worry. Also, if u submit any SAT scores, u HAVE to submit all SAT 2s so the 740 will have to go irrespective of its merit.

stop freaking out and send it- its pretty good. + my regional director said that they understand that people do mess up in these tests- i mean how much can a 1 hour test say about what you have learnt for many years? my score was pretty low compared to yours and i got accepted so i dont think you should worry about your score :p
