i struggle when i come to find examples in order to prove my point of view and i can't finish my essay.
i just want to know whether it is ok to prove my side of the statement by providing examples frm Islamic History?? cuz when i used to study History, i never had taken anything from civil war, WW1, WW2... etc

that's why am having so many troubles in finishing any essay i try to write.

am now trying to read about different historical events but i don't have enough time to read all of them and don't think i'll be able to handle all the info in order to complete my examples =(

what r the most important historical events that i should be familiar with??

that may be an awkward Q, but u can't imagine how hopeless i'm. i couldnt write any SAT essay so far and my test is pretty soon!!!

Who says you have to study US History? You’re being graded on how well you write your essay not on your knowledge of US History. Use whatever examples are relevant and if you think that topics in Islamic history are something you can incorporate into your essay then do it. The people don’t care what your examples are, they care about how persuasive/insightful your essay is and how you present your argument.

agreed with yetti, most people just use examples from US history because they are in that class. or that’s the main history classes they’ve taken. The past 5 years I’ve taken 3 years of US History and 2 years of world history/geography, so obviously I have an inclination towards US History just because i know the material better. But if you know more about Islamic history then use that.

You’re so obsessed over examples that you are forgetting the bigger picture; Essay graders are looking for persuasive essays. Writing a brilliant example over the Civil War won’t account for much in the long run when essay graders are skimming through your essay.

Writing about Islamic history would actually benefit you in two ways, both of which give you an advantage over other essays.

1.) Essay graders are less likely to know about Islamic history then American history. In other words, if a student tries to produce an example with American history but ends up getting a historical fact wrong, it will subtly affect the outcome of his score. You, however, can have a calm peace of mind that even if you make a slight fluke in your fact you can probably be rest assured that the essay grader won’t notice. As a matter of fact…

2.) they would probably even be impressed with the fact that you are knowledgeable in Islamic history.
