Is this true? What if I wrote my essay about my experience with piano, which I started in 8th grade, and my recital, which was in 9th grade? Also, in prompt one, we are asked to describe our world and explain how it shaped our dreams. Do we have to write about majors? I wrote about how I aspire to be a role model to my sibling. Would that be okay?

You can write about any part of your life. I wrote about an experience from fifth grade and the essay turned out just fine. Colleges are not looking for some specific thing about you (you don’t need to tell them you’ll major in Biology if your essay is about your family, there’s another part of the app for your major). They want to see a broader picture of your interests, your character, and your abilities outside of your grades and test scores. Treat your essays as an opportunity to demonstrate who you are to the admissions officers.
