I've had my heart set on Northwestern ED for Medill, and I have great broadcast journalism recs. However, I've seen tons of threads on Medill, and it worries me. Does everyone apply to Medill? What's the cap? Would it be better just to apply to Weinberg?

My D, a student at NU, knew someone who got into Weinberg and then transferred into Medill soon after (within a few weeks after getting acceptance letter). She had good jounalism skills but for some reason had applied to Weinberg. I don’t know if her case was a fluke or if she was just lucky, but it may be an option for you. Its not something I would rely on if I were you but you may want to investigate how easy that option is…

when I was visiting NU, they said it was very difficult into Medill and the school of music…so you might want to check up on that. I wouldn’t rely on being able to transfer to Medill if you get into Weinberg…

I agree. Medill is the most difficult school to which you can transfer. Don’t quote me, but I heard there was only one one transfer from WCAS to Medill a few years ago.

I don’t think I would rely on this but I know for sure it was done.

Oh well. I’m excited. I’m just going to hope hope hope I get in! Because I love NU so, so much! :)
