CAP'd - anyone else choosing this route?

I was offered admission through the CAP program. I’ve been accepted to other schools but UT is my dream and 1st choice - so I’m trying to decide which way to go.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the program? Will I meet others who are doing CAP? Would being closer to Austin (at UTSA) be better or does it even matter after the transfer sophomore year?

On one hand, I’m grateful I have the opportunity but on the other I’m wondering if this means I should move on and go elsewhere??

There will be many students intending to take this route. A significant portion end up not transferring. Going to UTSA does not increase your chances and it is the most popular program - fills up immediately. I think the big question is what is your major. If you want to transfer back into CS, engineering or business, you need to make close to a 4.0 and it is not a guaranteed transfer. If you choose this route, I would look for the campus that has the best program for your major such as engineering or CS, it is probably UT Arlington. If you want to try for the transfer, great, but also pick a school that you can be happy with and get a good education if you end up staying. If these campuses do not interest you, I would consider your other choices. Good luck to you.

What major do you want?
If engineering or business, the odds of making it are very slim. Most CAP 'd kids tend to get offers in Liberal Arts.

Actually, looking in to some type of communications… journalism is what I’ve been leaning towards. Maybe even political science?

With those majors UT Austin is a good choice. What other schools are you considering?
