Capitalism vs. Communism: The Showdown

Why are you jumping to the conclusion that I was talking about sex? What gave you that idea?

the quotation marks

Seemed that way to me, too.

George Orwell was a socialist criticizing the Soviet Union for calling itself communist but really being a dictatorship.

In the past, there was primitive communism in tribes. Humans are not necessarily greedy; they seek out the conditions best suited for life. Social conditioning attempts to support the current society; in capitalism, it imbues greed and a love of money. A different society with different morals would produce citizens with different values. That first generation is the hardest part.

The Earth can support all of humanity when resources are distributed evenly. With cooperative constructive work (not destructive, like all the energy, resources, and labor that go to war) poverty would be defeated.

Also, *T

What factors keep the poor people poor though? I think that is an important thing to identify, and that is where you try to fix things.

^yes, I agree he is crazy :p

Any system could work, but then people complain. People start to think. People change and want to change even more.

Really? I don’t think he’s crazy. I think he just sees things differently. I value his opinion.

We have to think more complexly than just Capitalism or Communism to really find something that works, and works well. And hearing from both sides will help. Billy just points out the problems he sees in Capitalism. Those are problems. It would help us to see those problems as well and work to fix them.

Communism favors all but the rich. To call me crazy instead of formulating logical responses to my arguments says something about your reasoning ability, not mine.

Also, I had to look up what Zeitgeist was, so it’s safe to say I haven’t been watching it.

To be honest, none of these systems work. We don’t live in a perfect society, we are humans. And things will never be equal, when they are that’s the collapse of mankind.

I was kinda kidding about you being crazy. I just think it’s funny how you are so consumed by your desire for a communist uprising that you dedicate every other post to it lol

I’ll kill a communist for fun, but for a green card…I’m gonna carve him up real nice.

We can only hope.

Capitalism fits in with nature’s survival of the fittest

If natural selection has been happening for millions of years, why stop it now?

That’s a bit harsh. Social Darwinism isn’t right.

So these[/url”>http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rm9dEWycGnE/TWu44QfQbvI/AAAAAAAAAC4/iQW1v2AWHqA/s1600/starving_baby.jpg]these children[/url”>http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/10mbebe/StarvingBiafranChildren.jpg]children deserve to die, because this[/url”>http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wORT_qGSrhI/RrJjAl4jBxI/AAAAAAAAABs/S_B9yeswJVM/s320/fat-boys-sm.jpg]this is our evolutionary goal?

I do not believe communism would save the world. What will save the world is the golden rule: “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12

Hume’s is–ought problem, you’re committing the naturalistic fallacy.

Can you please define capitalism and communism? And why are we forgetting mixed economies (unless you include that in the definition of capitalism?)? Most developed countries from Hong Kong to Singapore to US are mixed economies. Mixed economies seem to be the most efficient. I have yet to see any real attempts to establish a capitalist country and all attempts at establishing a communist one seem to have failed greatly (wouldn’t blame communism though). Anyway, China seems to be becoming more prosperous while granting more economic freedom which seems to have lead to more political freedom. This of course isn’t a argument for capitalism rather mixed economies.

I like it. Also interesting:

I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Matthew 19:23-24, Mark 10:24-25, and Luke 18:24-25.

Someone please show this to the people crying out for a “Christian nation.”

Capitalism lends itself to being somewhat controlled by regulation (thus, the US is capitalistic, though not laissez-faire). Communism, however, by its very definition requires it to be uncompromising. Mixtures between reform socialism and capitalism that favor the former are generally called social democracies.

Well if that’s your definition, Capitalism it is.
