as a student, anyone can provide some information about whether Vandy has any car rental program/service?
Thanks

You are 1-2 miles from Broadway and 2nd Ave/Market Street, which is where much of the fun dwells.

Fun can also be had on 21st Ave – Pancake Pantry, the Villager tavern, Jackson’s, etc.

That said, a 20(ish)-minute drive takes you to BNA, where car rental opportunities await.

Vandy has zip car

There’s an AVIS rental lot on Church Street. Probably more scattered nearby.

Zip Car is the most common service for short trips.

Do you have to be 21 to have a zip car account?

No you do not have to be 21. My son had been using the zipcars since freshman year.

I know Zip Cars are available on both the Commons and main campus and think that National Car Rental is available. as well. There is also this cool thing that if you need a car to go off campus to do community service related work, the OACS office in Rand (Office of Active Citizenship and Service) has several cars that students can reserve and drive for free. If you just want to get around near campus, there is a public bus that runs down 21st Ave to Green Hills Mall and another that goes West End/Broadway to downtown and they are free with your Vandy ID. Lots of kids take cabs downtown and use their Commodore Card to pay.
