Car saga WWYD?

I did not realize the home link wasn’t standard either. This car has a gazzillion bells and whistles…but the homelink isn’t one of them, oddly.

Heated wipers? Wipers that scrape snow and ice? Where have you been all my life?? How many mornings did I sit there waiting impatiently for the ice to melt from the defroster or out there scraping - such an awful job - watching the minutes tick by and knowing we would be late to school AGAIN. No garage here and there were months when this was an almost daily occurrence. I’ve never understood why people in mild climates all have garages and those of us where snow and ice are more common than not in the winter do not.

Well…I don’t think they clean the windshield…but being heated means they won’t stick to the windshield…I think. I’ll let you know.

HomeLink is something that costs money for both the hardware and license fee, but not every car driver uses it. So making it optional can help cut costs on the base vehicle.

Keeping the garage door remote in the car works just as well as having the garage door remote built into the car.

No, they prevent ice buildup on the blades when driving in icy conditions

But it deprives you of undergoing yet another programming exercise

Getting the homelink visor is about $300. We will likely do that.

Oh that’s not nearly as good. But at least I can stick to the plan of not buying another car for years and years now.

You might want remote start. It will run the car, including full heat and windshield defrost for up to 15 mins.

I’ve thought about it. Couldn’t afford it back when the daily stress was about getting to school on time and now I don’t really need it as much (and probably still can’t afford it). But if I ever move garage is going on the top of my list.

I have that with the app for my new car. I’m not very likely to use that…but I have it.

Yes 100%. We live in our current house because it has an attached garage, one more full bath, and one more bedroom. Never going back!

And my new car loves it’s new garage…and I will be happier once I get that homelink visor put in!

It also works with the A/C in the blazing heat. Nice to set it to cool the car down 15 mins before you leave your appointment or the mall, when in a dress shirt.

Not a concern!

Our garage has a car in it and three motorcycles. Those are recent, after we did some cleaning. Before, it was wall to wall boxes, some left over from our move 20 years ago. Be careful about garages. They can become catch-alls!

I’m willing to take the risk
