car?

current students do you think that a car is important? coming from CA i can't imagine living without a car but i dont want to drive it either.thanks

if i get accepted as a transfer student for fall 06 will I be allowed to bring a car? and how much would it cost to park it on campus?

i dont think it's very important. It would cost me more to maintain than it's worth. First year students get free bus passes anyways. Parking is always a hassle. A car would be more practicle after sophmore year if you decide to live off campus.

jason- yes, you can bring a car. To park on campus is $625 a year. If you live in housing on west campus (all upperclassmen) you will probably have to park the car all the way on north campus due to construction.

any student can bring a car, but a campus parking permit is, according to <a href="http://www.transportation.cornell.edu/Commuter_and_Parking_Services/tms3_faculty.html?quicklinks2=tms3_faculty.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.transportation.cornell.edu/Commuter_and_Parking_Services/tms3_faculty.html?quicklinks2=tms3_faculty.html</a>, $622.92.

A car is not that important especially for a freshman, and especially if you live on the other side of the united states.

where do they compute the $622.92?? Was $620 even not enough? How about $625?? the ninety-two cents? where does cornell pull this number from?

sorry, random ranting.

i don't know the tax in NY but the .92 probably allows for the payment to come out in whole dollars after the tax.

heard of "tax" much? haha

I believe that tax is still 8%. So, 8% taken from $622.92 is ... $576.78

back to the square one...

its not 8 %, its slightly more, 8.25 or around that

yeah, I'm pretty sure stonecold is right.

Not worth bringing a car. . you will get a free bus pass if you don't bring a car. It's really a waste because not only do you pay $622.92 for parking, you pay insurance, your car continues to depreciate in value, and you're paying for gas when you do use it. It get's really expensive for something you probably are not going to use all that much.

eh, even at 8.25% it's still some retarded number, a little bit less than 575 something.

just get over it! hahaha

When I visted Cornell, I saw a group of guys in an suv. They stopped at a stop sign and all of a sudden every one got out. Half of them left with back packs, including the driver ( i guess they were going to class), and the other half drove away. That seems like a great idea

yeah if you drive to cornell for class (from your apartment/fraternity) you will most likely be willing to give friends rides.
