I have recently been debating whether to bring a car with me to school next year or not. A lot of people say that a car your first year is not recommended, and there is the parking issue. I was just wondering what anyone thought? Is parking easy to get, and would a car be needed in Raleigh? I am out of state, so how far is the airport? Also, I have family about 5 hours away in VA, and a friend who will be about 3 hours away, so I would like to go visit them some. If I didn't get a car, what are other transportation options? Thanks for any input!

There are no parking spots for freshmen on campus. Freshmen who bring cars rent parking spaces off campus. S1 took his car as a freshman. He rented a space in a lot (lots of freshmen and communters park there) that was easy walking distance to his dorm.
Do a google search for Val-Park Raleigh NC

The university bus sysytem, the Wolfline travels all around Raleigh for students to use.
I don't think it goes all the way to the airport but I could be wrong. You could call the Transportation office at NCSU and ask.

If I attend NCSU I will definately be bringing a car and purchasing off-campus parking. I'm in state about 3 hours away.
