Hi I’m new to the forums and looking for some insight that I don’t have. I’m a senior in high school and freshman at college(all in one) going through a program that let’s me do so through my local community college. I have struggled as of late in the career decisions or more specifically the college degree department. As of right now I believe I’ve narrowed it down to two options, chemical engineering or pharmacist.
Chemical Engineering
- Would take around 6 years to complete masters.
- Would be significantly cheaper than pharmacist, but with a lower paying job.
- Huge range of job opportunities and room for expansion.
- Hard, hard schooling. (5 percent graduation rate)
Pharmacist:
- Would take about 7 years to complete.
- Lots of debt with good pay.
- More memory based, longer schooling, possibly residency required.
- More job security.
- Flexible hours
- Pharmacy market is getting saturated, who knows what it’s going to look like in 7 years.
Please elaborate for those who have knowledge in these subjects. Anything is appreciated, thank you!
