Any upper level students out there who have any information about career services at Binghamton?
I have gone thru their website, seems many companies/alumni have a strong relationship with Binghamton.
My oldest went to an OOS and in retrospect career services for after grad/help with job placement was abysmal at best, and I do understand the economy is not great, but was wondering how proactive career services are at Binghamton.
Are career fairs well attended?
Any other info would be much appreciated

I have nothing to compare it to but in my experience, Binghamton is really good at helping you in the job and internship search. Some of the things we have:

–Liberal Arts to Career Externship program: you can “shadow” a Binghamton alumni at their job for a week or so.
–Career Fairs: I always see a lot of people dressed up to go to these.
–Info Sessions: There’s a bunch of resume writing, etiquette, career hunt, etc workshops. They also bring in a lot of speakers. Sometimes they have info sessions on “how to get a job in _____ area” (ex. education, public service, health) with a lot of helpful information and names of people to speak with.
–Career Development Center: I’ve only been here a few times but they’re really great. They’ll help you write your resume and they have a huge database of internships and job openings that they try to match you up with. I had a question about applying for something and they helped me write my cover letter and take all the proper steps when it came to that because I was going into it completely blind. You can also set up fake practice interviews where they’ll critique you afterwards.
–eRecruiting: It’s a Binghamton website where you can search by job/internship and area of interest and a ton of results come up. You can apply directly through the site. There’s a bunch of local opportunities and on-campus internships/job offers as well.

There’s also a huge amount of recruiters that seem to come to campus, I feel like every other day I get an email that so-and-so company is here and we can go speak with them.

Thank you for your response. I went looking at some of what you posted, and it looks like Binghamton has many more resources available beyond the typical resume writing and career fairs. Impressive.
