My daughter applied to CSOM in September for MIS program. Haven’t heard yet. Wondering her chances to get into CSOM with following credentials.
ACT: 28
GPA (Unweighted): 3.55
Sent optional essays
Currently full time PSEO student at local college
Had all honors classes and 1 AP class as a Sophomore and 6 AP classes in her Junior year
Currently Engineering intern at a fortune 500 company
Extra curricular activities:
Participated in “Women Mean Business” this past summer at CSOM
President gold award for Volunteering 250 plus hours

UMN loves PSEO students. Even though your daughter’s GPA is a tad low for accepted applicants, and her ACT is in the 25th percentile of accepted applicants, the rigour of her courses and achievements more than make up for it in my opinion. The fact she has already landed an internship at a Fortune 500 company and has participated in a program at Carlson are really strong aspects of her application. I would say she has a very strong chance.
With 7 AP’s by end of junior year and then PSEO in senior year, course rigor is probably not an issue. Carlson might be a bit of a reach depending on the pool. But she’s a contender for sure based on academics and her EC’s are a great fit. Good luck to her!
