**Carnegie Mellon ED Discussion Thread 2014**

it should be under the documents received

The last thing it shows is ACT test scores received. It shows application complete under that :|

So is the consensus that there SHOULD be a section for “Application Reviewed” or not? It seems to me that no one is seeing any indication. Am I wrong?

I don’t have one, and it doesn’t seem like anyone else does either. Maybe it was a feature before and they got rid of it?

That’s what I’m thinking

also, all those ED’ing SCS… scary thought here, am I wrong?

if they only want ~130 kids total, how many do they take from ED cause like it can’t be more than 20-30 because every1 they take ED automatically takes up one of those 130 spots.

i would think (and hope) that they take more than 20-30 kids during ED…

Yeah, really. I mean, the admission stats are terrifying no matter how you look at them for SCS, but I hope it’s more than that!

They accepted 359 students last year, and 138 attended. We don’t know what percentage were admitted early, but obviously it can’t be all 138. I’m hoping it’s a larger percentage of 138 than 20-30, though.

I’m going to try to dig up more stats.

^^thanks bro lol … but yea I can’t imagine them wanting to take half their class ED? but thenagain just speculating… preparing for that saddness

Yeah, everyone applying SCS should be preparing for sadness. I’ve even got a countdown timer on my phone that looks like this:

I’m really trying to keep my hopes down.

EDIT: Does this forum have issues with its bbcode? Because it won’t take once I refresh the page…

The statistics are against us all! By choosing to commit to a binding acceptance to a Carnegie Mellon, you’ve slready internally decided that upon acceptance, you’re next four years will be rough. That grit alone will get you through any rejection, and propel you pass the college admissions process. Sorry to sound cheesy, but wherever we end up, like it or not, we’re still going to try to be the best damn engineer/actuary/architect etc. we can be.

tldr; you’ll be fine.

tru but till i get that ‘no’ the ‘what if’ still exists

@SOCRADEEZNUTZ Thanks for that encouragement! And I didn’t mean to imply that it was only SCS applicants that had to worry (believe me, I know we’re all anxiously awaiting that letter). I was only talking about SCS because that’s the one I applied to so it’s on my mind a lot.

@eugeneccatalan Amen. That “what if” is driving me crazy.

Hey guys, so I called CMU today about admission decisions and they said that letters won’t be sent out until the 15th. So they only begin sending out the letters on the 15th.

Darn. I was hoping to get it early. Oh well.

what about online then? is that the 15th too?

Their site says we get the decisions by the 15th, so I’d think they’d have to put them up online that day.

@shmikrish Did they say what time the decisions would be up?

this week gonna b so crappy

calm down and listen to 1989 ayy

After waiting for over a month, a week suddenly feels like an eternity. I’m glad I’m traveling Thursday and Friday–otherwise this would be absolutely unbearable.
