**Carnegie Mellon ED Discussion Thread 2014**

Fuckk are you srs? I’ve been banking on it coming out on the 15th

how many does cmu accept for ed scs? anyone have any info on that?

getting accepted under CMU ED doesn’t mean you have to matriculate. Yes, it is expensive, so if you think they didn’t give you enough money (which may be the case for many) you can still say no. So no, the seats are not “auto filled”.

Damn I was really hoping they would mail it by the 12th so that it could possibly get to us by the 15th…

after digging around for a while, it seems like SCS only takes in 20-25 kids during ED lol…

how many apply?

25 kids? Lol wow. I KNEW I should have gone John’s Hopkins ED. Now I’m not going to get into either!

I wouldn’t be too discouraged by the 25-30 number. I mean, we all know that SCS has a ~6% acceptance rate, so really the fact that only 25-30 people get in ED just reflects that.

It’s still just as likely that we’ll get in as it ever was (which, yes, is not very comforting).

My son called the CMU admissions office yesterday, and was informed that snail-mail letters would be mailed today, 12/12, and that results will be posted on Tuesday, 12/16. This sequence is generally consistent with past practices: allowing 3 mail delivery days (Sat, Mon, Tues) for physical delivery of the letters, and posting it on the third day (Sunday excluded). So letters should be received around Pittsburgh area tomorrow, Saturday, others on Monday, and bulk on Tuesday. Good luck, all!

Does it say on anyones app status thing if stuff was mailed out?

No

Braveone you are half correct. Letters went out today. You will find results posted online before 12/16.

Before 12/16 meaning 11:59 12/16 or like a random ass time?

@TheGypsyKid when?

@TheGypsyKid will it be online on the 15th?

I’m sitting in the airport, and the plane that’s leaving the gate before mine is going to Pittsburgh. Is it a sign???

(Yes, I am joking)

Wait how can we confirm if the letters got mailed out today? Where Am I does not show anything was sent

Yes, late on the 14th

anyone know what to expect for the letters? are acceptance and defer/reject the same package size?

@panthers101 I guess if someone gets one tomorrow, we’ll know.

@weiyourenma last year they were all the same small envelope, apparently.
