Carnegie Mellon...good for pre-med?

Would Carnegie Mellon be a good school to go to before medical school?
If not, what schools around the same difficulty as it have good pre-med programs?

Carnegie Mellon is not particularly known for its pre-med programs, but I'm sure it's excellent.

Ehh. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. Academics at CM are extremely rigorous. Meaning that it will be more difficult to get a high GPA.

If you're up for the challege, go for it. If not, you might be better off at another strong science school...with a better grade inflation.

Can you suggest any other schools?

Any school is good for pre-med if it's where you want to be. Pick a school where you have the best fit academically, socially, physically and emotionally. If you can excel in all areas (and with good balance - everyone recognizes too much partying is bad, but so too can be excessive studying), then you'll probably achieve what you need in order to be admitted.

Remember, med schools are looking at WHAT you do, not WHERE you do it.

Carnegie Mellon's grade deflation might not be the best asset when applying to med school. Go to the best USNEWS school you like the most. LACs also do extrordinarily well at placing their grads into top med schools.
