Carnegie Mellon Grades and SAT scores

uhh Jerlu, I dont’t know what to say. I’m no admissions officer but I do know that course load is the MOST important part of an application.

Jerlu, what grades did you get in precollege? If they were A’s, then you’ve got a very high chance of getting in. Pre-college admits like 85% of applicants or some ridiculous amount like that. Otherwise, I would say it’s anyone’s guess - your course load isn’t very difficult, regardless of how prestigious your high school was.

I know that course load is extremely important, and i totally screwed up on that haha but i am taking a lot of courses that arnt APs like arch independent study which counts as a major, and ive taken plenty of honors and have achieved good marks in those. and since ill be going for arch, i thought that the portfolio can really sway the decision, ive been working on it extremely hard. and also I will looking to get atleast a 32 on the acts, and 650 on the Sat2 Physics, and a 700+ on the math2. PLUS I have really solid extra circulars/community service/activities that i began in freshman summer and have continued until now, like Habitat for humanity, Special olympics assistant, ive attended Pre-College arch programs ever since freshman year and the most recent was at CMU where i got really high grades and an amazing recommendation from one of the profs who actually teach arch during the school year. Do you think all these combined…+ essay and all that, would sort of out weigh my weak course load? My grade trend has also gone up since freshman year
