Carnegie Mellon Interview Question

Hi all,

I'm doing an interview with CMU pretty soon.

However, I believe that this is not an "alumni" interview, as it says its main purpose is to check my English proficiency.

(I'm an international applicant). It's done through a program called CIEE, where they will record my face-to-face interview

with a person (idk who that will be) and send it to CMU.

HAS ANYONE done this sort of interview? (Btw, this interview was optional, but I chose to do it since doing so shows my interest and I also seek to use this as a chance to get CMU better).

ALSO, A GENERAL QUESTION FOR INTERVIEW:

I've heard that normally the first question that you hear during the interview is: "tell me a little bit about yourself."

Is this true? If it is, what must I include?

(I'm planning to include mainly my cultural and educational backgrounds, some struggles I had during the secondary schools, and my interests).

Also, approximately, how long should the answer to this question take?

It would be a greaat help if you give me your experience/opinion. I would really appreciate it. Thanks, and please help! :)

Literally tell them about yourself- what you consider the most important and/or what you remember well. I started from my childhood to my current situation and focused on who I am now. I would include why you picked your major and any extracurriculars that you are involved in.
