Carnegie Mellon Product/Industrial Design Chances

Hi everyone! I am currently a rising senior planning to apply to the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University as my first choice. If you could please help me by telling me my chances of being accepted and whether i should do early or regular decision that would be great. I attend a highly ranked public school with a high competition rate.

SAT: 2060 750 Writing 690 Math 620 Reading and 11 Essay
SAT II: 720 Biology (I do not know if i should take another sat II because it is not required for design majors for many schools LMK if i should take another sat II just in case)
GPA: 3.7 (including freshman year) 3.8 (10 and 11) 4.05 weighted
AP Courses: Human Geography, AP Art History, AP Biology, AP Lang and Comp, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, projected courses for next year: AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Psychology

Extracurriculars:
STEM Program Vice President for 1 year, Class Representative for 1 year
4 years of STEM
Internship at local company for graphic design
Courses at Art Center College of Design for two summers- Design 360 and Intro to Product Design
Volunteer at my city- 98 hours
National Honor Society Publicist 1 year, Project Coordinator 1 year
3 years of NHS
3 years of CSF
3 years of Spanish Club
Yearbook Staffer for 1 year, Editor for 1 year
National Korean Day Art Contest Grand Prize winner- won a free trip to program in Korea for the summer (I’m not korean btw LOL)
Congressional Art Competition Fan Favorite winner
State Fish Art contest- Second in my state

I have a pretty good portfolio (i am currently working on a lot of pieces, mainly for product design) but what do you think are my chances of being accepted and what do you think i could improve on? Any input would be really helpful. Thank you in advance

Your sat and gpa might hold you back

Don’t listen to writer80 they are not giving you helpful information. You’re certainly a competitive applicant but saying you’ll totally get in doesn’t do you any favors. I’d suggest trying your hand at the new SAT or ACT as your school is a bit low. You’re ECs look very good though! Make sure to apply to safeties and matches and don’t put all your eggs in one basket like writer80 implies. Best of luck!
