I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and mine was ripped as well lol.

@Noobie123 I got into MCS with a 1980, your SAT is definitely not too low.

Understand that a 2200-2300 SAT does not guarantee acceptance. Not even close for a school like Carnegie Mellon.

My friend got into upenn, cornell, and uchicago but waitlisted from CMU MCS lol…I’m agreeing with fantalove

I got into MCS!!

SAT I: 2240-math:790-CR:740-Writing:710
SAT II’s: 790 on math II and 760 on math I, 740 Bio, 770 Chem
GPA: UW:3.35 W:3.5 (I go to a super competitive public school)

Extracurriculars: couple of leadership positions, broad range-from model congress to science olympiads, over 500 hours of volunteering, tutoring, math and science awards, science research.

Essay: I don’t mean to brag, but it was amazing. ^^
Recs: All of my teachers knew me for at least two years, and one knew me for three years, so I’m assuming that they were pretty good.

Ethnicity: Asian
Hooks: First generation for college.

My son received a $22,000 a year “leadership award” from RPI, renewable for 5 years if he decides to stay for a masters degree. He really wants CMU though, and he usually asks for NOTHING, so the decision is very difficult.

He still has to hear about the honor’s program of an our of state “state university” known for engineering which would be less than half the cost of CMU, and also waiting about accept/deny at Harvey Mudd… I am trying to relax about the whole thing…

I got in with an sat 2160 superscored… Don’t think that it is the strongest part of my application, and nothing is of that sort. Ordinary well-rounded student … Holistic review is working nice…

Meh, I don’t think so. I had 2210 = 750/750/710. And writing wasn’t that important, anyway. So really, it still makes for a decent score.

Still can’t believe I got in! Ahhh so excited to visit in april Does anyone here know if cmu will match financial aid from BU or Villanova?

^ Very unlikely. Neither are peer institutions and don’t really come close to matching Carnegie Mellon in terms of math/science/engineering

Do you guys think that a major scholarship from the University of Michigan will be matched by CMU?
I got in for engineering, by the way.

Jrtf9088 and quest21 --

Have you both received your FA from CMU? I was admitted RD but my FA is not yet available. I’m not sure if I should be worried about this or not. Thanks.

@quaerens–
Nope, nothing received yet, although on the official fbk page they say it will come out later this week.
However, on my status, my financial aid processing isn’t even complete yet, which worries me more. Does anyone have a not yet completed financial aid processing status yet?

Thanks so much, quest21. I have the same status message as you. Perhaps this is just the default until they release our packages (I hope!)

No problem! And goody, I’m not alone, haha.
But I’m missing a date next to one of my financial aid forms, which is scaring me, haha. Is that the same for you too?

I am too with the same status. Im missing my student w2 and tax returns but i called and was told tha t i would get a fin aid package anyway.
