Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity

Is yours?

On the website it says “Decision letters will be sent on a rolling basis beginning January 1st”, is this true?

Even for applicants on west coast?

@boahancock i live on west coast. Yes, my name is listed under there. In fact, I even called them to confirm and they told me over the phone that I had been accepted.
Edit: I submitted my app 1-2 weeks ago

My name is on the directory, but I still haven’t received any notice of admission… anyone have any thoughts as to why?

@User19205234 When did you receive an email of acceptance?

So we emailed and they said that we should hear in a week or so and that we would hear either way whether accepted or rejected. This is for the Art program and all documents were submitted by 2/10/17.

Can anyone confirm the validity of the whole directory thing? My name isn’t showing up :frowning:

Hey everyone, I’m going to clarify what I meant. I applied to SAMS and submitted materials about 2 weeks ago. I had read somewhere that if your name is on the directory, you had been admitted, so I was checking once a day to see. I noticed a few days ago that my name appeared on the directory, but I had NOT yet received an e-mail. i received an email this morning saying I was accepted.

Just got acceptance email this morning! Anyone know about how many people apply/how many people are accepted?

@User19205234 Thanks for the link. I was able to use it alert people that they were accepted into the program.

So, I’m confused guys. I submitted my application on the March 14th and I did not get an acceptance. Do you guys think they genuinely haven’t reviewed my application or that I was rejected?

@ChemistryKing7 I called them and they have said they are still reviewing apps. I’m pretty sure they’ll keep reviewings apps until mid-April.

Looking at older treads I am reading that AP/EA rising Juniors have/had? the option to apply for (very) early admission (meaning non binding) right after the program. On CM’s website it says it is an option for rising sophomores that want to skip the senior year altogether. Anyone knows if EA is still an option for rising Juniors or if they eliminated that option altogether?

Are the applications to different programs viewed separately or together?? like are the people who review applications for SAMS the same people who review applications for the art program?

Does anyone know if SAMs if more rigorous than AP/EA or if they are about the same level?

I submitted my application on March 3rd and uploaded all of the supporting documents by the 15th, so I’m getting kind of worried.

can someone teach me how to view the directory? I’m kind of confused as to how it works, do you just enter your name?

i checked my application status, and they received my letters of recommendation yesterday… do i still have hope TT^TT

@sebas514 You can’t really compare SAMS and AP/EA as they are completely different. SAMS is an immersive program with a cohort that runs all day long with weekend obligations as well. AP/EA is an independent program and your only obligation is to attend the two courses you select. If they are non lab courses you will only be in class a total 2 hours and 40 minutes a day M-F, with weekends off.

AP/EA students select their courses and decide how much or how little to study, just like regular college students. Those students spend their days/evenings and weekends as they please. SAMS students have mandated courses, structured days, various evening and weekend obligations, and mandatory social events and outings.

@enmaka If you are referring to SAMS the target size this year is 118 students. Hard to say how many they have to accept to hit that yield.

@planner03 Where did you get this information, if I may ask?

@ak2018 which part? I had a S attend SAMS in the past and another S that has been accepted for this summer.
