Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2024 Regular Decision

mine loads normally too

My daughter is a freshman at cmu and last year it was on Saturday March 30 at 9am. It will be via the portal. Good luck!!!

How good is Carnegie Mellon at giving financial aid? I know they donā€™t give out merit scholarships anymore which seems like a bummer :frowning:

Not known to be generous with FA. Net Price Calculator (College Board) gives a good estimate. CMU has a very good argument, iā€¦e CMU degree will help earn more during his/her career. CMU sends an estimated FA from FA office independent of Net Price Calculator. Both numbers were close in our case.

DS is at CMU. Our FA award was reasonableā€¦not too generous, not too stingy. It was about the same amount as the merit he would have received at several other less competitive colleges.

Senior year they sent a letter showing reduced FA award for that year. I wrote and tactfully asked why, especially as our income/expenses had become tighter. They had me send in tax forms and then they actually increased our FA award for the year.

Our FA officer always answered emails in one day. So overall we are quite satisfied with CMU FA. YMMV of course.

Just looked on the Carnegie Mellon ā€œWhere am I in the process?ā€ portal, decisons will be made on Saturday, March 28:

"Decision Letter Reveal Dates

Regular Decision Applicants can view their decision letter through this portal on Saturday, March 28."

Do you guys think that the people that applied to CMU is lower this year than last year? Last yearā€™s RD thread had 26 pages and this yearā€™s ED results had people with lower SAT and GPAā€™s, such as someone with a 3.6 weighted getting into Engineering (congrats to them btw). Iā€™m hoping thatā€™s the case since it gives more chances to this yearā€™s students.

Also, Iā€™ve heard that CMUā€™s financial aid isnā€™t the best. Do you think they would be generous to me as a family of 4 surviving off $20,000? Iā€™m relying on full-rides for all my schools.

someone on reddit just received an acceptance package! looks like theyā€™re releasing packages before decisions!

My D just checked on the Carnegie Mellon ā€œWhere am I in the process?ā€ it shows, decisons will be made on Saturday, March 28:

Acceptance package received this morning, midwest.

Just opened my acceptance package too!

which schools did you guys apply for?

Didnā€™t recieve anything yet! Hoping to get in! Iā€™m on the otherside of the Delaware so praying itā€™s just delayed bc of COVID19 impact on employers.

Anybody in NJ got the package?

@hello121456 College of Engineering

For those that received acceptances: did it show up in your informed delivery? I have no packages coming, but some regular mail without pictures.

@Brasssection259 @Anewjourney were they the ā€œfat envelopeā€ packages?

@shamli portal decisions will be out on the 28th, but they mailed out packages before then for some reason

@mdasian i also have two mail pieces without images! im so scared lol and my mail comes at like 5pm, so ill have to wait a while

Apparently my letter mail came earlier today (Got my Vote By Mail Ballot :wink: and a free Wawa gift card!). But USPS Informed Delivery still shows one other unmarked package.

@throwaway0324 Yeah Fat Envelope packages

Also the acceptance letters are dated 3/28 so the promptness of the mail system is the reason I have it early (no special circumstances)
