I've heard some schools carry aid for the actual university year over to cover the costs of studying abroad. I've also heard that some colleges transfer credits from studying abroad to the student but the grades the student's receive while studying abroad do not affect the students GPA. Are these things true? Do you know any colleges that do either? Or both?

I’ve attended two schools. School A and B did carry aid for the school year. School A did this for all schools, school B did it for certain universities only. The thing is, school A is a private school costing $40,000/yr and has generous aid. Basically whatever you’re paying to attend that university is what you will be paying even when you go abroad. School B has a completely separate tuition for studying abroad, depending on the universities you go to. The schools that are affiliated with school B would cost the same as if you were attending the school in the states, with aid and all.

Neither school did the second thing where it doesn’t affect GPAs.

I’m pretty sure whether or not these are true depends on the school. Each one has a different study abroad policy.
