so who lives on campus and drives a car?? is parking really expensive and is there room?? hehe

It’s tough finding parking here. Many people get parking tickets…

yeah it is expensive. Unless you know a friend who lives in an apartment with parking and is willing to let you use it.

I park in the channing garage…$375/semester. Cheap!

Green–

Where can I get info on the channing garage? $375 seems really reasonable.

Having a car in Berkeley only makes sense if you have living accomodations that allow for ease of parking (like in a fraternity). Otherwise, forget it. Grab a scooter if you can.

Parking is expensive, parking spots in shopping/restaurant areas are hard to find, amenities are close by, the city is densely populated, and the public transportation is well-developed. Doesn’t make much sense to bring a car up unless you really value the convenience and don’t mind paying for parking (and it is convenient).

I have a car; I just keep it in the storage lot and almost never drive it. It’s useful for going to home depot and suchlike, or just “going for a drive” when I’m really desperate to get some time alone, but…well, free public transport for students.

hmm this is an old topic.
