Hi. Im looking into transferring to Cal and I need to know about bringing my car to campus. I live in Southern CA so it would really just be easiest for me to bring my car with me, but I see that you cant get a parking permit unless you live more than 2 miles outside the campus. I hope to live in Channing Bowditch (which I dont think qualifies) or a Unit, which I know doesnt qualify. Is there any way for me to get a parking permit? Maybe some sort of storage parking that I would have to take a bus to or something? I just want my car, it doesnt have to be close to me all the time.

how about for freshman students who are dorming....will we have parking if we bring our cars?

They say you don't really need your car.

Well, yeah, but I will. I plan on leaving alot on the weekends, and it wont be within reach of BART. So, anyone?

easymack, did you try contacting the staff at Channing Bowditch for advice? There may be current CB residents with a car.

Also, did you see the following statement on the Parking & Transportation site:

Storage Parking at a University Storage Lot
Students living in the residence halls who do not qualify for a parking space may apply to Parking & Transportation for a storage lot parking space. These spaces are limited and are assigned on a first-come / first-served basis. Storage lot parking costs $23 a month. Applications for residence hall and storage lot parking are mailed to students with the Terms and Conditions of Residence.

parking.... parking? parking???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH,

no seriously, unless you plan on getting a few tickets a day, or have a garage that you can get a permit for, or have a friend in berkeley that you can hold the car in his/her garage, then don't plan on parking.

i have a car here. i can park it at my house, my frat, my friends house, and in oakland.
