Hey all, I'm bringing a car to Rice for sure, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to bring it for O-week or if it would be smarter to wait and secure a permit and make sure other details (if there are any) are taken care of. Anyone have some suggestions?

It's funny how many issues I haven't even begun to think through. I never once thought about what will happen to my car once I unload all my stuff. But I'm sure there's some kind of system in place to get permits for the cars that have been brought there.

You will have the opportunity to register your vehicle during O-Week, and your O-Week advisors will tell you where you can park after you unload.

I'd recommend bringing your vehicle for O-Week if you know you're going to have one anyway; there's no real reason to wait. Be aware that the parking permit fee will probably be around $200 or so; you can write a check or charge it to your account at the cashier's office -- it will appear on your next bill.
