Cartoon Essays

I recently picked up a book and it had a small section on people who submitted comics as their college app essays. (I might note that this granted them admission to elite schools such as Harvard and Yale.)

One of the "essays," for example, was about the dichotomy between discipline and creativity. The applicant personified each abstract idea and made them into characters. She then illustrated the differences between the two in a witty manner, but I noticed that she still had a good amount of real "writing."

Just wondering if anyone has tried this and had success.

bummppppp ?

Really? No one has done it before? I just want to know if drawing a cartoon will come off as a gimmick or as creative risk-taking.

are you an artist? if you draw frequently, then I think it would be great. show your talent and make the essay interesting.
however, if you're just wanting to do it to seperate yourself, then it will show and not be impressive.
