CAS Big Brochure ' This is the place.." in mail

They waive the application for people who they consider great candidates (who otherwise would not consider NW). It is a recruiting tool for the great ones like hotpiece and esquared. Did either of you apply for hpme?

i did not apply for hpme, but i did get a likely letter from weinberg. and yeah, i was not planning to apply to Northwestern, but my mom made me after the application fee waiver.

No, I didn't. I probably wouldn't have applied withouth it either...

wait...so before you even sent in an application, they gave you a fee waiver. How does that work out?

They gave me a code to put in the online application....

i don't get it. they don't know anything about you before you send in your app, so what makes them want to give you a fee waiver.

I live in the US and also got one. I've got quite a few mailings and brochures since applying and visiting. Maybe if U visited you get them?? but it would make sense to send the viewbooks to those that didn't visit. Maybe by visiting we just got on a certain mailing list. ????

i think they do know some stuff about us, like our PSAT scores, etc... but I also lived in Chicago, i don't know if that would have any bearing on them "knowing me." but yeah, like Esquared i got an email with a fee waiver, inviting me to apply. so i used the fee waiver and applied.

I have never visited and I live in Texas, sooo.............I do not know.

if you already know why they waived your application fee, why are you asking if it's a good sign? honestly, stop fishing for compliments. it's annoying.

I don't think it means anything to get the brochure but it is a tease to see a large piece of college mail in early March and then see it's just a pretty booklet.

jellb, no one asked if a fee waiver was a good sign. venus was confused about it, so we explained it. and the original question was whether receiving brochures was a good sign. we just somehow got off on a "fee waiver" tangent.

<is the="" fact="" that="" northwestern="" waived="" application="" fee="" a="" good="" sign?=""></is>

that was asked. not a big deal.

is everyone who is receiving the brochures people who had visited?

oh, that was asked by Esquared, and i agree that it is a pretty stupid question.

I got the McCormick equivalent of that brochure. I really don't think it means anything...at all. I think it's purely informational, and that there is no hidden meaning beind it.

I know a hispanic guy who got his fee waivered. his stats were wayy below average. i was pretty annoyed when he called nu his safety.

Thanks for the support, hotpiece

Well, I am half-Hispanic so, maybe that could be it..

well, of course a fee waiver is a good sign.

in other news, i got a brochure from CAS today. so maybe it is a good sign, considering that i got a likely letter.

i never visited nu and got a brochure. i'm pretty sure they send it to everyone though.
