CASE Exam

Hi guys,

Just wondering about this CASE language exam - I got a 760 on my French SAT II test so I have to take it. How much harder is it than the French SAT II and what does it involve? Anyone have any sample questions??

bump
this is from a while ago, but i was wondering the same thing

Why don't you ask it on Class 2012 forum?

i figured that nobody in cornell's c/o 2012 would have ever taken the CASE (as it is not administered until orientation week, i believe)

I've heard that the CASE exam is just an essay and they grade you based on your writing. Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm 2012 also.

hmm... i went on the romance language site and it said that "The CASE exam is not a multiple-choice test: it tests reading, listening, writing and for some languages and levels, speaking."

it's quite involved...it's like a TAKS test only that's in the language you're testing for (TAKS is texas' standardized test for high school graduation)...it's defn not as hard as the SAT VERBAL/MATH...

shorter than the AP EXAM...

I don't remember at all what the French SAT II is like, but the French CASE involves dictation, sentence correction, reading comprehension, listening comprehension (I think...), and possibly other stuff. As I recall, there's no speaking test.

When/where do we take it? I tried to find it in the orientation packet but I couldn't

romance studies at cornell | testing schedule

i asked this on the class of 2012 q+a, but no one responded yet.

does anyone know how long the french CASE tests are? i know the spanish one is approx. an hour - are all CASE tests the same length of time?

I would assume they should be about the same length? It really would be illogical if one is only 1 hour and another is 3 or 4.
