Case v. W&M (OOS)

Son’s been accepted to Case and William & Mary, out-of-state. He’s planning to do Biology/Pre-Med, but it could easily change. With GI Bill benefits and the $27k offered, Case would actually be cheaper than W&M. We think they’re both great schools, and would be happy with either. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Medical research is King at Case!!. Case has both the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals for internships, and summer work experiences. Cleveland Clinic is a world renowned hospital for heart disease, look at this website and walking distance from the Case Western Campus. I am not familiar with W&M, so I cannot compare, but look for hospitals in the area of W&M if you son wants to get into medical school, its very important that he work in a hospital. Usually it will take a full year of work after the four year degree to gain admission, but having Cleveland Clinic on his resume would make his medical school applications stronger.

Case is more than a one-trick pony, but for anything medical/bio oriented it is tough to do any better outside of the insanely selective schools like Johns Hopkins and Duke. Few schools offer similar access to world-class medical institutions as Case. W&M and Case both cater to the same nerdy demographic that grad schools love, so your son will be in great shape either way!
