Received T!!

Are the t-shirts sent to all admitted students or just those who have accepted already?

@singermom4 I think they are sent to all admitted students. Did your DC check the box at the bottom of the acceptance e-mail to request one?

My S is admitted but has not accepted. Is there some kind of action to take in the interim?

Such as? You will most likely receive a couple of emails in the next month or two asking about where you are in your decision making…a “check the box” list with answers such as yes, I will attend; no, I will be going elsewhere; I’m still deciding; and I need more information… Other than that you don’t need to do anything until the deadline.
I do seem to remember that there was a postcard perhaps to return for a t-shirt…

? We have to indicate we are still deciding? And S is saying he did not get a postcard for a t-shirt. I am asking him to check his admission packet. Hope they are not requiring anything specific or that he did not miss some deadline to reply!

No nothing required! I was just remembering two years ago when my D was doing this…it was more of a just an informal email…I think they were just gauging interest- a way to keep in touch or get those not attending to say so. As for the t-shirt, now I’m wondering if it was when you accept…I honestly can’t remember- maybe someone on here can address this… @redwall1521‌ @pacpac

You have to be admitted to get a T-shirt…the offer for the free t-shirt is at the bottom of the acceptance letter when you log in to CWRU website that they tell you to go to see whether or not you are accepted.

There is a check box at the bottom of that acceptance letter and you select, Yes, I would like a FREE CWRU t-shirt and I promise to send the person whom gave me information on how to get the free t shirt, a gift certificate to Burger King.

^^LOL! - and thanks!

Accepted 22k Scholarship for Engineering
I didn’t really think to post in here, but with all the research I’ve done on Case I figured I will. I was accepted early action.

SAT: 2110 (CR 610 M 770 W 730)
ACT: Never even thought about taking it.
SATII: Chem 800 Bio M 800

Unweighted GPA (out of 4): About 3.65 - I did ok freshman and sophomore year (3.5), way better (like 3.9) junior year and very well this year (almost 4.0)
Rank: School doesn’t do it. But If I were to guess, maybe like top 15%
AP Scores: Chem 5 US 4
Senior Year Classes: AP Econ, Architecture, AP Lit, AP Calc BC, Physics Honors (school doesn’t offer AP) and Honors Latin (hate that class).

Major Awards: Nothing beyond school (Some XC league championships). I got a few small awards at school.
ECs: First Chair cellist - 96 on NYSSMA level 6. Thats just a New York state music festival. Top cross country runner. I was decent, not amazing. I ran something like a 17:20 5k on a hilly course. I tutor this year. Overall I don’t have many ECs, just a few that I spend a lot of time on and go pretty hard at. I barely do clubs, but plan to do a lot in college.

Volunteering: Probably 20 each year. My family sometimes helps out at a church.
Summer activities: Worked at a summer camp all 3 years and got promoted last summer.

Strengths: I had some help on my essay so that was good. My SAT2s are quite good. SAT was ok. Since I was applying for engineering I think the 770 in math looked good. Also my GPA wasn’t amazing overall but it had an upward trend. Lastly I showed a lot of interest.

Weaknesses: Not many ECs. Horrible critical reading score. I suck at reading. I’m more or a math kind of person. Didn’t win any regional championships of any sort.

Overall I was expecting to get accepted. It was kind of a low target I would say. I didn’t expect to get that much scholarship money though, even though I’ve seen lots of people getting more. There’s a pretty high chance I’ll be at case next year, and lucky for me think box will begin growth.

Waitlisted and disappointed

Reflection

Strengths: solid application overall
Weaknesses: possibly common app essay, sat 2 chem, not much to set me apart
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I didn’t show enough interest? I signed up for an info session online which I was unable to attend because of computer problems. I also signed up for an alumni interview which they never got back to me on. I even emailed them asking for a request after a few weeks and they never responded. I’m a bit pissed off but it probably means the school wasn’t a good fit for me anyways.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: This is my first deferral/waitlist.

Accepted to: University of Minnesota, UC Davis, UCSB, UCI, UCR, UCSD, Bama, RPI, GA Tech, Northeastern. Also got the likely letter for UCLA engineering  To be honest I would probably attend UCLA or UCSB over case so it’s not like my dreams were crushed this weekend. Haha

Decision: Accepted, Nursing School, 600 Math 660 Reading 660 Writing 1920 overall SAT, 3.35/4.0 UW GPA, 5 on English Writing AP, 4 on Art History AP, just 2 APs senior year. I’ve done many artistic and several athletic extra curriculars. Some Volunteer work, and I babysit in the summers. My essay was alright, 8/10. My recs were definetly great. I also did a really stellar interview which is surprising since I’m not the best with them generally! I live in Pennsylvania and hear early. I go to a difficult private school and am female. I did not apply for financial aid, but received the scholarship all nursing students receive. I think I was accepted because I demonstrated a lot of interest (two visits, two meetings with reps at my school, and an interview), maybe because I don’t need aid, and because CWRU accepts most kids who apply from my school. Congrats to all accepted! CWRU is very high on my list right now!

Decision: Accepted (with a $22,000/year scholarship)

Reflection

Strengths: Interest, AP scores, grades, honors societies, interview
Weaknesses: Essay, not enough extracurriculars
Why you think you were accepted: I think my app speaks for itself, but I have NO idea why I got a scholarship if I don’t need, it.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted to URochester, UT Austin, and UMiami. Waitlisted at Carnegie Mellon. Rejected from Cornell University, Barnard, Amherst College, Brown, Northwestern, Tufts, WashU, and Wesleyan.

General Comments: For the longest time I did not want to go to this school. I thought of it as my safety and I thought I’d end up at somewhere like WashU or Barnard. Last week I finally visited the campus and fell in love. I’m still mulling over CMU and Rochester, but I think Case is the one. Go Spartans!
