CWRU 2024 EA/ED I Discussion (merged)

Figured I’d start one

When do decisions usually come out for EA?

Case says on or about December 17

Last year, on Dec 18 they said they needed more time and pushed it until 8pm on Dec 20

Let’s stress and chat together!

I applied Early Decision. When do people think the decisions will be released? I can’t wait anymore!

My son’s portal says that ED decisions will be released (“anticipated release date”) on December 2nd, and EA decisions on December 18th.

My case interview is tomorrow, so nervous

Good luck @FebFlower! It’s cliche, but relax and be yourself. Smile, make eye contact, firm handshake and let them know who you are!

How did it go, @FebFlower ?
What kind of questions did they ask?

@AlmostThere2018 @bopper
The interview went pretty well! There were some questions that I expected (why Case, why my major), but also some more interesting ones (my spirit animal, my favorite TV series/movie). Lasted about 30-35 minutes  Hopefully I’ll get some good news in 2 weeks !

ED people - keep us posted on here!

My daughter was accepted ED today. She is very happy.

@BlackMare Congrats!!! Would you mind sharing her stats and major?

@BlackMare Yes, please do share stats as future applicants look at these posts to figure out if they should apply.

I applied ED and got deferred yesterday :frowning: Case Western is my number one choice and I absolutely love the campus. I’m not sure if a deferral is common at Case Western or if there is anything I can do to improve my chances of getting in. I have a 32 ACT, 3.95 unweighted GPA, 4.45 weighted GPA, very involved with my school, I have taken 6 AP classes and many honors courses. Part of the National Honor Society. I have shown great interest in the school: emailing admissions counselors, visited twice, had one interview, sat in on a biochem class. I was hoping for some advice on what I should do to improve my chances of getting accepted. I haven’t really done anything new this year that would add to my application, besides continuing to take AP classes and hold straight A’s. I was wondering if I should call or write a continued interest letter.

@bobopeaches123 Are you local? Maybe talk to your hs guidance counselor because sometimes they personally know admissions people from local colleges.

@FebFlower I am local, I will definitely reach out to my counselor. Thank you!

My DD was accepted ED yesterday! We’re all so thrilled. Question, her letter stated she was accepted but didn’t specifically say she was accepted into the Nursing program. Is this normal for Case?

My daughter’s school doesn’t report class rank. Her GPA is a 3.90. Her SAT scores are a bit below the 25th percentile that CWRU reports. She does have excellent extracurriculars and a very authentic essay. In junior year, nearly all of my daughters courses were honors and this year she is taking one AP course (the rest are honors). I suspect she had strong recommendations from her counselor, teachers, and the program director for whom she performed significant hours of community service.
