Good morning- my daughter applied to the nursing program. She was accepted (thankful). However, nothing in her acceptance letter refers to being accepted into the direct admittance nursing program. Any thoughts…
Can someone explain how I get into BC and Georgetown but get deferred at Case Western?
Thanks, @DadLogic . She does it all. I am in the background.
Also, @dadlogic, I do take to CC to vent! I certainly would not email or call any school saying “I’m so and so’s Mom” - actually, I am sorry that I have come off that way! My D is much calmer and internalizes. I get wound up.
@georgetownhoyasaxa: Here is a link to an article from the Georgia Tech admissions director, which I have found to be helpful in considering a situation like yours: http://pwp.gatech.edu/admission-blog/2017/05/16/admission-its-not-fair/. His main point is that “Mission drives Admission”; and perhaps there are clues in the respective academic “mission statements” of the schools where you applied that can give you some insight.
Some posters here have also speculated that there is a mini-“Tufts Syndrome” at work with CWRU.
No worries, @Winky1. I misunderstood your post from last night when you quoted a communication to Case (“My daughter loves your school…”) Glad to hear she’s in the lead. These days, it seems you have to apply to 10 to get into 1, so don’t get discouraged!
Probably your attitude - Case is one of those schools that does not want to be anyone’s safe school/second choice - did you visit? interview? Case is not generally considered less than when compared to BC, and, for many areas, G-town
If you applied for the Pre-Professionals Scholars Program, you are not considered for Early Action and will receive your result in February.
@dadlogic, that was my humor in the midst of a rant!! haha. Makes me self conscious being that your first posts on CC were to let me know to stand down Thanks for the concern and well wishes. Best of luck to your son at Wash U.
DD was accepted, w/ 25K merit. 35 ACT, 4.0 GPA, 1 AP, lots of community college classes.
She’s kind a “meh” about it – wondering if it’s worth paying 250% what her safety school will cost. She had a great campus visit to Case and it checks off all her “nice to have” boxes very very well. Unfortunately, her “must have” boxes are not all checked off as strongly. So, the fit is a little weird.
We will wait and see where things fall out in March/April.
S18 accepted with $25k into engineering. Very excited! Good luck to those deferred! And as I have said in other posts, I’m sure most kids will have a combination of accepts, deferred and declines. Here’s hoping they all have several great choices when this process is done!
Looks like everyone who got accepted has a scholarship award. Did anyone get admitted without a scholarship award?
@LiisaMarie I forget how Case states it, but basically, when you are accepted to Case, you are accepted to the whole school and can major in anything you would like. So, at some point, your daughter will get to declare herself a nursing major, whether that be orientation or something. The more difficult option would be switching majors later… which is still allowed, but difficult to start over in coursework on the path for a new major. That is my understanding of things. Sorry I can’t find the page I read that stated that.
@PDX2018grad thank you for your reply! Are you in Portland?
Yes! Are you West coast too? @LiisaMarie
@PDX2018grad - yes just north of Seattle
I got a really cute and personal PS message in the end after my acceptance letter. It’s really thoughtful and definitely pushed Case up my college list.
Hello I was accepted to Case EA. Does anyone know if there is a group chat that has started?
@LiisaMarie I would love to talk with her! Is she attending Case or is she still deciding? Does CC have direct message?? I would love to give her my number and we could text if she has decided to attend.
@lport12 i havent been able to find one yet, no groupmes posted on facebook as of now. Kinda wanna make one but also im kinda too awkward
