Hi! I am deciding between Case Western Reserve University and Rutgers Honors College (In-State) . I plan on studying bio/bio chem?? On the pre med track. Case Western is offered me the University Scholarship (32,500) per year so in total I’ll have to pay around $25,000. On the other hand, Rutgers is offering practically full tuition/room and board with me only having to pay around $5,000. I need to make my decision before May 1st and I’m super stressed. I was leaning toward Case Western because of the medical school and opportunities for volunteering/interning, but I’m not sure if the extra cost is actually worth it and I’ll get the same education compared to Rutgers. Can you guys leave some input and or suggestions?? I really appreciate it.
Assuming you have visited both? Because we found them to have very different campus vibes.
Rutgers has UMDNJ (maybe not called that anymore??). Pre-med track I would do Rutgers Honors all day long. Save your money.

How will you pay the $100,000 for CWRU? $25K x 4 years. If you or your parents have to take loans, then go with Rutgers as you will have to pay for Med school later.

It kind of doesn’t matter if there is a med school at a college. You need to make sure there is good premed advising.

Where would you volunteer in a medical setting at both schools? Yes, Case has many hospitals literally next to Campus. How much competition is their for volunteering?

Housing: Case has no issues with you getting housing. What about Rutgers?

Classes; Are there issues getting the pre-med classes you want?
Just be aware in your decision that not all honors programs are created equal and the Rutgers HC is a very competitive program with excellent benefits including supporting the HC student internships and research opportunities. They advocate specifically for HC students. That may be relevant to you as someone looking for internship opportunities. Good Luck!
