Case Western Reserve or Washington and Lee?

Hey guys. I'm having a really hard time choosing between Case and W&L.

At Case, they are giving me about $31,000 in aid out of $59,000 in total cost.

At W&L, I'm getting 50,000 in aid at an estimated school cost a little over of 59,000

I'm stuck between the financial factor, trying to determine which school has a better business program, and which one would be better after four years when I'm applying to medical school.

Opinions? Help? Thanks!

W&L has the stronger academics and you are getting more aid. If you comfortably with the social scene at W&L - this is a pretty easy decision.

I think Case is the better school, but that is a huge price differential! If you are trying to go to grad school such as med. school, you should go with the cheaper option.

Have you visited W and L? It has a very unique culture: very preppy and very conservative. Make sure you can handle the vibe. If you feel comfortable there, I think you should attend because you’ll need your money for med school. You’ll get a good education there.

For the life of me I will never understand why people repeatedly ask for opinions to compare two colleges that are for the most part nothing alike.

Case Western and W&L are both superior schools but other than that they are nothing alike. You have to decide what it is about their differences that appeals to you. Another reason why your inquiry is confusing is that you talk about med school and a business degree in the same breath. ???

Here’s an example of the contrast between the two schools. CWRU is a great STEM school, whereas W&L was the first American university to establish a modern business school (the School of Commerce, if I am not mistaken). It’s your move.

I would like to later go to medical school. And it doesn’t require a major in Biology to get in. Business is therefore flexible and allow me to explore my options. And if I decide I don’t want to be in the medical field, I can use business in a wide range of professions.

Because they are nothing alike is why I want to compare. If they were similar, it would be an easy choice to simply pick the better of the two.

Thank you so much for everyone’s opinions. I appreciate it very much.

W&L! It’s a no-brainer. Most kids would give their right arm to be accepted to such a terrific school with that FA package!!
