***Case Western Reserve University Class of 2020 Applicant Thread***

Son was waitlisted after EA denial. 35 ACT, 2210 SAT. He did the follow up stuff and Case was definitely a consideration. Glad he doesn’t care. As a first time parent through this, it’s hard to understand the game.

Waitlisted… It’s okay though, I’m from NE Ohio and wanted to go away for college anyways :stuck_out_tongue: good luck everyone!

@ayylmao1 me tooo!! It is killing me. Ugh I should’ve done that. It’s overloaded from everyone trying to do it at once, so it should work later.

@zaychik LOL SAME!

Well, this is my second waitlisted. I feel so frustrated right now.

@BOBROSS I think that there is such a low waitlist acceptance rate (if you will), because most people who have applied to CWRU, we can assume they are intellectual people with good scores. By the next three weeks, most of us will know many other decisions (assuming we applied to other schools) so hence those who do accept the waitlist are probably ones that believe that they really are destined to get into CWRU, but then you add those people who have gotten accepted to CWRU and are planning on going there… and you get that small waitlist acceptance rate.

(This makes no sense, but there is hope. Slightly.)

Waitlisted. Pretty insulting as it was a bit of a safety for me.

Waitlisted. Oh well, 12 colleges to go and I have 2 under my belt so far

Waitlisted. Well, this is expected. After REMS rejection, I clicked to continue my application with RD but I realized 1 month later that it didn’t go through and I had to re-submit it. It’s probably too late in the game. Disappointed because I hope to get a good scholarship. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!

@thisismynameOH I’m going to guess he was waitlisted because he was perhaps considered “overqualified” and they want to protect yield

I WAS ACCEPTED !!! I’m so happy because I applied to Case before I got my test scores back and after I did receive them I was like ‘there goes that dream’ but I GOT ACCEPTED WITH A 26,000 SCHOLARSHIP I am so immensely numb and happy

Also waitlisted. I was EA deferred and now waitlisted. I don’t understand it because I summited an 150 word essay telling them why I wanted to go there. I wonder how everyone’s waitlist letter looks like. Will anyone want to share their waitlist letter?

Here’s mine:

Thank you for your application to Case Western Reserve University. The university received a record number of undergraduate applications this year, many from academically promising students like yourself. Because Case Western Reserve is a residential university that guarantees housing for all first-year students, we have been forced to be conservative in the number of acceptances we initially offer. The admission committee hopes you will accept a place on our wait list for the Class of 2020.

@VaishS Sorry. I meant those waitlist letters.

@alwaysbored haha yeah I reread you comment and deleted mine :))
college decisions are driving me crazy lol

@PigletYorkie @ayylmao1 @Kylemcgrogan do you guys want to share your waitlist letters? Just want to see if they sent out different versions.

@alwaysbored Mine looks the same also. I also submitted a 150 word essay after I got rejected from the PPSP program. Have you gotten accepted / applied elsewhere? Keep in mind that ~ 4000 get offered for waitlist, ~2000 accept waitlist, ~40 get admitted.

We are optimistic that we will be able to grant a number of acceptances to students from the wait list. Housing is guaranteed for all students who are admitted from the wait list. Need-based financial aid and scholarships will also be available for students who qualify.

All communication from Case Western Reserve regarding your wait-list status will be delivered via email, so it is important that you respond to messages from the university if you wish to remain in consideration. On April 1, we will send you an email asking if you would like to remain on the wait list. Students who respond in the affirmative will be considered if additional acceptances are granted, and students who respond in the negative or do not respond will be removed from consideration.

If you have additional questions about the status of your application, I encourage you to be in touch with me at 216.368.4450 or admission@case.edu.
