They just sent me a package in the mail with a bunch of Case goods!
@CCSenioritis That makes me excited!! What state/region do you live in, if I may ask?
@SnapApp Florida!
Is there a facebook page?
@CCSenioritis what kind of case goods?
I got the package. It contains a string backpack, pencil, sticker, diary, earbuds and some other stuff. It was a pretty cool starter pack i gotta admit
Has anyone heard back about those full-tuition scholarships that you had to write an essay for?
not me
All the nominees have been notified.
When we visited Case they made it very clear that they did not value being treated by high stat applicants as nothing more than a safety for the Ivies and other top tier level schools (and especially Carnegie Mellon, lol, quite the rivalry there). Yes, in part it is about yield, but they aren’t turning people away just because they had high stats. Case is VERY big on the demonstrated interest facet of the admissions process. Did someone visit campus? Did they interview on campus or with a Case alum, or at least make the attempt? Did their essays show a significant depth of research and interest into Case? If the receive a high stats application and other than submitting the free app and required documents, they never see any demonstrated interest (and I only listed a few of the ways to demonstrate interest), they made it pretty obvious that they felt the applicant was tossing that free app at them as a safety and would likely not accept them or would waitlist them. Students like to feel that a school wants them, it is not unreasonable for a school to act the same way.
My D was admitted to Case EA and will be declining her offer today or tomorrow as the finances simply didn’t work out, although she loved the school. Hopefully that opens up a slot and possibly some additional scholarship money for someone else. Good luck!
Could someone (@Skates76) elaborate on what I ‘high stats app’ is? My junior D is fairly high stat, and really likes Case following a visit this winter. I could see Case being at or near the top of her list come fall. So that she doesn’t fall onto the waitlist, I’m always interested in what else she can do from an ‘interest’ standpoint, and I’ve not heard of a high stats application.
@2muchquan
Here is a great link for what the “stats” look like for freshmen at Case:

You will notice that they have become increasingly more competitive each year.
And here is a wonderful link by @bopper for ideas on “How to show interest.” http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/case-western-reserve-university/1686674-how-to-show-interest-in-cwru-p1.html
30-33 avg ACT :OOOO that’s crazy. the only reason that I applied was because I thought their range was 29-32 since I got a 28. I didn’t even show any interest either. every time i read through these threads im more and more surprised that i got accepted especially since ive been waitlisted/denied by much less competitive schools lol
@hechopecho Since they report the middle 50%, at least a 1/4 of the CWRU’s freshman class had a ACT of 30 or less. So having a few 29s and 28s seems likely. (and 1/4 with a 33 or greater.) Maybe it was your GPA or your essay or something unique about you that the admission’s counselor noticed that set you apart. Whatever it was, congratulations on getting into CWRU! Maybe you showed interest in a way they track and you did not even notice, like opening the link to an email they sent, or something?
@hechopecho Congrats!
@hechopecho…It also might be what major you indicated interest in…if you are one of many Pre-med or Engineering applicants there may be more competition than someone interested in another major.
Accepted and attending. This was my first choice school.
I loved that they sent us earbuds. It’s a great personal touch, considering the musical nature of the school and applicant pool.
thanks you guys !
@bopper I put in biology which was probably not very helpful for my app
@forests congrats!!! i still havent received anything but thats understandable since i live p far
@hechopecho maybe the fact that you live far away helped your app some. It looks like CWRU also likes to have geographic diversity. The have students from 50 states and many, many countries. There are just so many factors in the process.
My daughter was accepted at Case on March 12 via email. We just realized that CWRU is the only school that didn’t seem to follow up the email with anything in the regular mail, other than a nice goody bag last week. Every other school sent their offer letters in the mail with other helpful info. Did something get lost in the mail? Have others gotten anything from CWRU, or is something still coming? I’m just curious…
