I applied EA and didn’t get anything other than the goody bag, but the portal has a lot of helpful info.
@myjanda my daughter was excepted early action, and she also never received an official letter other than the goodie bag. There is an official letter and other documents available on the portal.
@Wizard2 - thanks, spoke to admissions a little earlier this afternoon and they too said everything on line. Just wanted to be sure I hadn’t missed anything, since all other schools had followed up with hard copies.
Have any accepted students received a second package in the mail from Case?
First one being the package with the drawstring bag, earbuds, etc.
Second one small-ish sized in a bubble mailer with an approx 4x6" thing inside?
DD got the second package with the cards - we thought it was great!
I just visited Case and absolutely loved it! I now have to decide if it’s worth going into a little debt over, but I do hope it works out, because I was hard pressed to find any negatives besides cost.
Anyone out there who would recommend one way or another going into debt to attend? I feel like it could be worth it for the abundant research opportunities and such.
@ajs28152 It totally depends on what you mean by “a little debt.” I’ve been reading these boards for a while and it seems like most people’s comfort level is about $20-25k of total debt for undergraduate studies. I think that amount would be manageable for most recent graduates. But, I really wouldn’t recommend taking on more debt than that. Especially if you plan to go to graduate school. Anyway, congrats on getting into Case!
Does anybody requested increase of merit aid? Do they increase the merti aid? BTW, we did got second packet.
D was accepted too. Nursing is where she wants to major. Financial aid will be a pinch, not sure if they will review or not, we want to do the overnight now too.
Report back if you do ask about increased merit aid and what they say.
@umpatel tried to request increase in merit aid several years ago and was shut down pretty quickly - “we don’t do that.” Maybe we should have charged the door at that point, but I have the impression that Case knows their turf and would gladly offer the scholarship to some other deserving student should you choose to reject it.
I think that is pretty common for most colleges.
Have any of the finalists for the Andrew and Eleanor Squire scholarship competition been notified of their results yet?
Has anyone heard news from wait list?
@debbiezjw Nope
Waitlist news usually comes out after May 1
If you get of the waitlist I HIGHLY recommend visiting before committing
It was my first choice until I visited. Now I’m comitting to a different school. But good luck to all of y’all on the waitlist!
What makes you change your mind?
@hechopecho In all your former posts you have always “leaned heavily” toward Smith and preferred the small LAC over a larger campus… to say now that it was your first choice until visiting is doing a disservice to those still trying to decide
We visited twice and even though I wasn’t expecting much, I was surprised. The idea of Cleveland scared me. I didn’t want my daughter to attend as it sounded scary. WOW was I wrong. I really wish we were sending her here. The place is very clean, has so much to offer. It came down to money for us. We had a much better offer, otherwise she would be here. Everyone was just the so helpful and very nice.
