Case Western's Business Program??????

Would i have a chance to get into a top level firm from Case's Weatherhead?...i visited it and i feel pretty good about how they run things....but realilistically for somone who wants to leave the Midwest...could i get anywhere on the east coast w/ a Case degree?

How bout Ohio State's business program............which one would be better...weatherhead? or Fisher??.....very interested in your thoughts

Thats interesting I was asking myself the exact same thing, I think you and I are in a similar situation. From what I've found out so far the answer to your question is yes. Mckinsey, Accenture, IBM, JP Morgan are all places that graduates from Weatherhead grads have attended. I think IBM in particular has strong ties w/ Case. Also theres the co-op program that helps a LOT to get a job. Here is a list:

http://www.oesp.case.edu/ugcoop/company_listing.html#Management

I have not found much apart from the Case website and a few others on the matter but rest assured watherhead in general is a great school.

Please tell me if you find out anything else, the undergrad school at weatherhead is smallnthats why its so hard to find out about...

I'm too lazy to spell check this so please excuse any typos

And im pretty sure Weatherhead is better than Fisher especially for undergrad, maybe i'll see you next year!

well Fisher is ranked 18th in USNEWS while weatherhead is around 28 or 30...so at least by that measurement its not.....but thats all relative and really if the schools are that close to the top...then its virtually personal preference thats important

yea but I woudlnt really trust those rankings. At the undergrad level it's better to be in a smaller enviornment, I think Fisher is ranked higher only cuz its bigger so more graduates and more chances a job ops...

It's MUCH easier to get into Fisher undergrad than Weatherhead undergrad and the coops really help

Just go wherever is cheaper. Unless its a small price difference then go Case

my 2 cents

just work your ass off at either place and u can get a job anywere

yeah......well case would be 9k a year..... i got 34 k in merit and grants..im very poor..lol EFC was 0.....ummm but once you get into Case, you are automatically placed into weatherhead....while osu's is a double admission where you have to apply after freshman year...unless you are in the honors program...and lucky enough for me, i did get into the honors program.......but i do see your point...thanks for the advice

Just out of curiosity tell me were you end up!

sure no prob....tell me where you go too

I'll either go to UMD or Case not sure yet...

I think Case is better than Maryland...just my two cents

WHat makes you say that?

case just as many recruiters in my opinion and there is less competition for the really good jobs because there are less kids fighting for it. and also the co-op program is great and there really isn't a huge difference between like 22-and35 raning wise if you recieve a really good fin. aid plan

I meant to say 23 and 26

Is Weatherhead respected on the east coast?

Sebma seroiusly I would find out if you are going to be able to get into smith your first year. It is a risk without it but I am sure you will do fine. I have that problem at Uwisc as they don't let anyone in freshman year. I think Smith and Weatherhead are the same thing in terms of rankings. .1 in a peer assessment isn't going to be that important.

Because both schools will be the same thing financially I would visit both schools and choose which one you like better. YOu said you didn't get offered scholars @ UMD but I don't think that should hold you away. The problem is because of this you may feel more like a number because you will be thrown in among the greater population of the school. I haeve heard case has a horrible social life but that means different things to different people.

I personally love Maryland. I have for years. I am an avid Maryland sports fan. My family has nice business friends in the area and the internship opportunities are through the roof with just a 7 minute metro ride to DC. Maryland is ranked high for majors that lead to IT programs and as an early career I think that might be what I want to do. That can easily change but I have been interning at a IT solutions company and I really like the atmosphere. Maryland is the right choice for me. I am sure once you visit both schools you will know what is right for you.

Good luck! At least you are narrowed to two schools, which by the way are really good. atleast yes

Actually I havnt narrowed it down at all,

UMD is already out of the picture, for me its gunna be either Case Rochester or Brandeis, they all accept me to all majors. I'll probly do Econ major w/ a minor in something math related...

But still give me any info if you find any I don't want to rule ANYTHING out,

thanks!

just wondering why Maryland is out of the picture?

I shouldnt say UMD is out of the picture but here are reason why I prefer Case over UMD:

-UMD is HUGE: 30k vs 3200 at Case
-UMD is about 3 miles away from my house (why do you think ppl go to college?? lol)
-More recruiting @ Weatherhead and a sweet building
-Co-ops
-My family would be paying 14k a year
-Case is overall just better

And that was just Case I'm also considering Brandeis and Rochester
