my D interviewer asked me to dress "casually" for my interview. does that mean button shirt, slacks and nice shoes? im geussing he doesnt mean "casual" as in my pacsun t-shirt and jeans+adidas. but just to make sure, am i suppose to wear like a polo or someting like that? my interviewer said he itll be at like a hotel lobby and that he was a dartmouth MBA alum, thanks!

A buttown down shirt and slacks should be good. If it's hot outside, a polo would be fine.

yah, you don't want to overdo it/underdo it. I'm not sure if you consider a polo as dressing up or anything because I wear them almost every day, but- I would say wear a polo and some jeans or khakis....if he said not to dress up, then don't. But yah, don't wear a t-shirt.

should i tuck my shirt in? also, im planning on wearing dress pants(black), dress shoes(black), a polo shirt(brown w/yellow,white stripes), and a black vest. i dont think im overdoing it. but i think my jeans are a little too worn out for an interview, and i dont own khakis....now that i think about it, im not dressing too "casual." what does he mean by "casual"??? business casual or everyday casual????

The interviewer probably wants you to feel comfortable/ relaxed. Wear what makes you feel comfortable without losing your "game face". I found that I had to dress more business casual to help combat nervousness. But a three piece suit or pantyhose is not required! It'll go a lot smoother if you are comfy! (Jeans, though, might be too casual) Good luck!

Kosuke, that should be good. He is an MBA so their definition of casual is a bit different than the rest of the world.

Shirt, tie and coat. Be classy.

Never wear jeans.

I wore a sweater, Uggs and jeans to my casual Princeton interivew (no big deal). Only my Interviewer knew that I was meeting him immediately after school.

I wore jeans and a polo to my Harvard and Dartmouth interviews and both times my interviewer was dressed about as casually. I would have felt overdressed if I wore slacks and a dress shirt.

I've worn jeans and a polo shirt to all three of my interviews (G-town, Dartmouth, Penn), but then again they have been at two coffee shops and a police station so it was no big deal.

Don't wear a suit- that's really too much.

No tie either. I wouldnt go jeans, I would put on some slacks/khakis and tuck it into a polo shirt.
