Pre-Orientation programs: Project Wildcat

Hey guys,
I just got into Northwestern and I'm really excited about going! I'm pretty sure I'm going to do one of the pre-orientation programs because all my friends are going to leave for college way before me. I've heard this program Project Wildcat is supposed to be awesome. Are any of you guys doing it or have you heard anything about it?

Everyone who did a pre-NSW program I know LOVED it and still keeps in touch with their respective group. I didn't do it but I regret it and recommend it to anyone who wants to try.

DEFINITELY do a pre-orientation program, and I highly reccommend Project Wildcat, aka PWild.

What most freshmen don't realize is that ALL your friends will already be at college by the time Northwestern starts, so you're not missing anything at home.
Pwild is a great way to really meet people and come into college already with a great group of friends. I did it my freshman year, (I'm a sophomore now) and I still hang out with the people in my group.

Most of the people who don't do one of the programs really regret it, so definitely do them.

I've never heard about Pwild or pre-orientation programs. I don't think I saw anything about it in my admission packet. What is it?

You'll receive more information about the pre-orientation programs with mailings that come later in the year... the mailings should be coming out sometime in June, which is about when you will have to thinking about signing up for whichever programs you want.

PWild is basically a week long backpacking trip with a small group of students and counselors. The hiking is not very strenuous, the sites they go to are beautiful, and its really awesome just chilling and making a bunch of new friends before you even get to school.

You can check out more information at their website at http://www.projectwildcat.northwestern.edu/
I really had a lot of fun with it, so much that this year I'm applying to be a counselor. Definitely sign up when you get the chance this summer!

Do you guys know anything about receptions for admitted students overseas?

are there are other pre-orientation programs that you guys can think of? is project wildcat the best? any that you don't recommend?

Pwild is the largest and most popular program, but I've heard good things about the other programs as well. The Freshman Urban Program and Catalyst are the other pre-orientation programs, and they are smaller, more selective programs, but all the people that I know that did them have really enjoyed them.

There is currently a common application, so that you can apply to multiple programs at once, but I reccomend PWild! You'll have the most fun and meet the most people!

fyi... you can do any of the programs if you are an international student, they are completely open to everyone who is interested.

FYI, the application for the pre-orientation programs will be coming out on May 1st, and is due on July 1st. This is universal for all the pre-orientation programs.

I heard the Chicago Urban Program was cool

If you are at all wanting to get into volunteering while in Chicago, or even just want to explore the city, Freshman Urban Program is great. You will go into every single area/neighborhood of the city to look at different organizations that affect the particular community. It's also very educational. It might be selective, since I know a couple people that didn't make it, but jus put thought into your essays and you'll be good.

Check out PWild!!! The application is hecka easy yo...
