I’m a freshman in highschool that got caught cheating with two other people. I am not sure what will happen detention, suspension, expulsion? I was taking an online test when we started discussing the test on this group chat we had opened. Before any answers were shared my teacher saw the chat on my friends laptop and took it. She then found out who was in the chat and wrote us all up and gave us a zero for the test. We still haven’t been called down to discipline but I know they’ll ask for our story and discipline us according to what we say. This is my first offense and I know that doesn’t excuse any of this but I don’t know what to do. How do colleges look at this? How can I minimize damage?
I don’t know about your school, but my school has a cheating policy that if you get caught cheating, you’re sorta blacklisted. All the teachers get a list of students that have been caught cheating and those students can’t receive recommendations or join NHS and Beta Club. They also have to go to detention. If I were you, I’d try to find my school’s cheating policy and maybe prepare for detention. Also, you should apologize to her. At the very least it’ll show remorse.
