Was at a school basketball game, we brought 3 mixers that we split between 4 of us, they took our drinks and 1 was empty the other 2 had very little left, took our names and then we left. We left before being brethalysed or any field sobriety check and they didnt object. Does this help us at all or are we pretty screwed? I know we have external possession but can they prove internal just by claiming they witnessed it?

And yes yes i know i shouldnt be drinking underage to begin with but im 20 years old and i grew up around it, im in no way a dangerous drinker neither are any of my friends.

Any information or advice would be much appreciated.

::If this is in the wrong location then i appologize, delete, relocate w/e the policy is just let me know where id need to retype it...im new::

Where are you located? For example, in California, underage drinking is actually legal, but there would be no way for that to happen without someone doing something illegal (eg. furnishing minor with beer).

Chances are, nothing will happen. If it’s police, they either cite or arrest you on the spot, or they let you go with a very scary warning (as this seems to be the case). In either case, I don’t think they have any actual proof that you’ve been drinking. If it’s a campus official, then there might be sanctions later, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Just relax and hope nothing comes in the mail. Chances are, you’d be fine.

You might be in more trouble because it happened at a game. In addition to mailing your parents/making you go to some class/probation they may ban you from the stadium.

was it at your university? do you live on campus? you will probably get written up and might have to attend some kind of educational course or talk to the dean. i’m sure they deal with **** like this all the time on a college campus.

Yea i live on campus, no they dont notify parents, i know whats gonna happen i was more so looking to know if the fact that there was no test helped my case at all which i doubt it does. Damn dude 1 year of prison thatll be a bummer, oh well mabye i can come out with some awesome new license plate line…

Its a pretty normal thing to do during a playoff game, i saw multiple other people who were far more worse-off than me and my friends but i go to a small private school that has recently cracked down on any sort of fun it seems.

I honestly had not…especially in my own personal experiences where during my schools playoff games finding a sober student in the crowd is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Well i know some people who were caught drinking or drunk had to take those classes, I think one of them went to court or something? I’m not sure about the court one though.

New Hampshire? Phew - don’t worry too much about it. There’s no minor in posession / underage drinking law there. Also, even despite of that, NH is one of the most libertarian states, so they’re usually very light on matters like this anyways.

So, now the only thing you truly have to worry about are sanctions from school officials. As an adult insitution, the chances of them writing home are very minimal. If they do, it’s time to pack up your bags and transfer to an institution that treats you like an actual adult.

Usually, it’s just a stern lecture of some sort. If I were you, I’d relax. Considering these facts, there’s an excellent chance that it’s going to no more than a very small slap on the wrist.

If they didn’t take a breathalyzer test there’s nothing they can do. If you were to only take a couple sips and they tested you just say you took some cough syrup. A cop told me this.

Ok, i was unlucky thats besides the point im not debating the fact that i got caught its pretty clear to me. I was asked if i had known that schools were strict about it and i replied that i had not i never said i was off the hook. I posted this to get someone whos had a similar situation give me some advice not to have the obvious pointed out.

My friend vacations in Guantanamo i hear its got some lovely views.

Read the license plate on the next car you see.

Was this law enforcement (local police) or campus police? If it turns out to be a legal issue, you can probably talk to the prosecutor or have your parents talk to the prosecutor about a continuance where you just stay out of trouble for a year and everything disappears.

If it’s a school thing, then you need to review your school honor code and maybe ask around or look on the web to see what happened to others with the same issue.

It was only campus police its going to go to a school court. Ive looked into it and thats the problem I’ve never heard of it happening before, we had like sprite bottles with vodka and sprite i never thought they could just be like we know youre drinking…hand it over.

Also, go Eagles, im from the Boston area.

Nah i prefer roast beef, but to each his own.

Smart students pregame. Stupid students do something like the OP did.

Secondly, if you go to a private school, the legal system will not help you. The school doesn’t need any sort of proof to punish you. A public school may need something more substantial, but they also have an incredible ability to bypass your legal rights - especially in matters regarding the first amendments, but that is another discussion.
