In one of my recent threads, "SOPHOMORE: WHAT ARE YOU DOING OVER SUMMER?!"

I see a common trend:
"I'm doing SAT Prep"
"Meh.. just SAT Prep"
SAT PREP SAT PREP SAT PREP..

I myself, am too. BUT CAUTION. DONT JUST TALK THE TALK. I know so many people that get like.. a 3.0 or something. and say "next quarter i'll work so hard!!" Yet they still get a 3.0.

Walk the walk:
I don't wanna see everybody failing, so make sure you actually spend time on it. It'll all be worth it. I have a korean friend (VERY STRICT TUTOR) who says: "Study now as if you're investing for you're future business". Remember that. =] Best of luck to all.

Meh? I understand that you wish everyone will follow through with their plans, but aside from kids at your school, where do you see a trend on CC?

Yeah. I totally didn't study for the SAT over the summer. At first I got all excited and planned out a few months' worth of prep right up until test day. I prepped for a week, then (seriously) forgot about it until a month before the test.

OR you could guys could actually do something useful w/ your summer... SATs are sort of important but i think it is way more impressive if you get an internship or volunteer or whatever.

I think that it's best if you study hard for your SATs and ALSO do something like an internship or volunteer over the summer. SATs are not just "sort of" important, they are really important. Although only a high SAT score will not get you accepted to a college, they will help get you on the same level as others who have the same high SAT score. Then, the impressive internship or volunteer services will help them decide who to choose.

Because many CCers have high expectations and want to get into their own first choice colleges. I am planning to play all I want after the college admissions thing is over (meaning, Senior year summer)

I've done like the opposite of most CCers. I didn't really try throughout freshmen - junior year, I kept like a 3.0-3.2, but I never did homework. I didn't really study for the SATs. Well, I took a prep course, but that was about it. I still got an 1800 though, which isn't so bad. But, now in my senior year, I have straight As and have actually been studying and stuff.

I agree with carpecollege. SATs+GPA makes up ~50% of ur college application. If you have those but not the activities/leadership qualities to show, you are seriously lacking
