CBSE Board Marks

Hello everyone,

I was wondering as to how the board marks affect your admission. I have predicted marks of 95%. Assuming that I get into an ivy league school like Harvard or Yale, how much should I score in the board exams to keep my acceptance?

Thanks

No American uni requires CBSE marks. Frankly, they’re not prepared to evaluate them versus the traditional SAT or ACT tests. You need to see what the school requires. CBSE, IB, A-levels – fine for your system but not wanted by the US colleges.

You need to submit what tests the individual Uni requires

CBSE marks will be fine for your grades. [Enough Indian kids apply to most American colleges that they have people in Admissions quite familiar with the system.] As for ALL high school students, you can not slip significantly in your grades after your acceptance. The problem for IB and CBSE kids is that their grades are “predictive” and not final at the time of applying. The weight at which a college will look at a 95% will depend on how accurately your school is known for its predictions. Schools that over-predict may get blackballed.

That being said, if you are a predicted 95% I would think you would want to be at least a 90%. However, when you get your acceptence letter read very carefully what conditions are put. Most of the time it is less specific and will just say “making good progress” or something equally vague.
