CC and CSU transfer to UCSB or UCSC??

Okay, so I have been reading around alot.

And I understand that going to a CSU and trying to transfer to a UC is a very bad idea.

I know it's do able but I know that CC are the first priority for tranfers.

I am here in CSU Chico, and I am starting my first freshmen year here tomorrow.

I already feel that I need to get out of here because it doesn't seem like the place for me.

I would like a school with a more serious academic attitude.

I would go to a CC, but the problem is my parents would probably not approve it because I already payed enough to come here.

Would it be possible to go to both my CSU and a CC and still be able to transfer?

UCSB and UCSC are my top 2 choices.

And what would my gpa have to be for me to have a good chance?

I have tons of EC's btw.

Thanks!

If you want a place with a more serious academic setting, UCSB isn’t a good choice at all. The atmosphere is really similar there to Chico State. For all intents and purposes, transferring from a CSU to a UC is virtually impossible. If you are serious about transferring, drop out of Chico State now before you finish any units (taking ANY units at a four year puts a cap on the amount of units you can transfer to a UC later).

Okay fine, but I would still like to be closer to home (West LA) for the convenience.

And UCSB was a school I thought of going to but never really bothered appling to.

Santa Cruz is fine for me too.

And the thing is, I don’t know if I should drop out.

I mean with all the grants, financial aid, etc I’m getting I only pay $115 bucks for tuition, housing and everything combined. It’s such a steal… :(

I don’t know what to do…
