I think it's kind of true in some cases, especially the "chance me" portion of CC

There are so many factors in the college admissions process that a mere listing of scores and statistics does not accurately correlate with probability of admission to ivies. "Chance me" can only give, at most, a general clue as to chances. For instance, it is unlikely, though not impossible, that a student would be admitted to Harvard with a 1700 on the SAT I.

I think sometimes CC does the opposite of what it is intended to do; it puts more stress on applicants rather than ease stress by providing a community for quick information.

What I'm trying to say to everyone reading this is that you should think twice about the responses you get when you voice a question.

Some people should just NOT go on CC. I know a ton of people that if they see 'better' applicants, they flip out and start insulting themselves and all that jazz. To be on CC you have to be able to be around others that are better than you are without killing all of your confidence- and some people can't do that.

^
I'm addicted to CC not because of what's here, but that I don't have anything else to do. It's now summer, and I think I'll be taking at least a summer-long hiatus.

I do agree. But, some of us tend to go towards the information route than the obsession route. Some people are naturally more neurotic than others..or just need the advice of others. Sadly enough, without therapy, that can't change.

Some of the topics that are talked about are ridiculous, but I'm sure there would be just as much stress about college even if CC didn't exist. Have you seen the admit rates and the waitlist sizes this year? sheesh!

I feel like people try to unnecessary stereotype CC. Just take it for what it is. For some it's a base of knowledge, for others it's a chance to compare themselves to others.....why do people even care. If it creates stress for you, don't read it. As simple as that.

CC is a very helpful place if you want it to be. And can increase your stress levels if you want.

Before you follow someone's advice make sure to double check. There are lots of people around who just say stuff without realizing that they may be actually misguiding someone.

and yes it does foster unncessary stress. it also hurt me grade-wise because i'm like "oh who cares like a 4.0 matters anyways. the CCers always say a few A-s don't matter"
