My son applied to 5.

7 down, 7 to go. 2-3 safeties, a couple of matches, and the rest super selective schools. FA a concern even with the safety schools, so S has or will visit most if not all schools accepted to with FA package that makes school affordable. Most schools if not all S could see himself at from the extensive research done.

My S is applying to 6 schools.

i only applied to 2 both were early.i mite pply 2 more if i don get in

I'm applying to 17, if you count each UC I'm applying to. If you count them all as one, then it's 14 private universities. Yay...

I've applied to two... Hampshire and Oberlin. I wanted to apply to more, but the other schools I'm interested in either didn't allow spring transfers or first-years. But these are two schools I really like, so it's not that big a deal.

14:
6 ivies (all but Dartmouth and Princeton... Yale SCEA)
2 LACs (Williams and Amherst)
2 religious (Georgetown and BC)
1 journalism school (northwestern)
2 safeties (Fordham and USC)
and finally, Stanford

My D applied to 6 for engineering. None were ED because she wants to evaluate her options, if any.

Already accepted at her safety, Purdue, with a $40K scholarship and several contacts from the honors engineering program. Any opinions on Purdue for engineering?

Will hear from UIUC on Dec. 14th, the others - not until Feb. or March. Might as well be 10 years from now... lol!

I've already applied to one: Northeastern (EA), and i plan to apply to eight more for a total of 3 safety, 3 match and 3 reach schools.

8;
2 Reach: Penn, Duke
4 Reach/Matchish: Emory, Cornell, Northwestern, Rice
2 Safety: Case, Pitts

I think I will apply to 12:

9 Reach/Match
3 Safeties

9;
3 Reach: BC, Notre Dame, UVa
5 Match: Villanova, Richmond, Wake Forest, Holy Cross, Colgate
2 Safety: WPI, Fordham

13
3 Super Reach: Princeton, Williams, Brown
4 reach: Cornell, Emory, Penn (ED) Duke
3 match: Michigan, Colgate, Wesleyan
3 safety: Lehigh, Bucknell, U Rochester

I only applied to 4. 3 Matches and 1 safety.
Oh yeah and a community college in case I don't make it into any haha

if you guys dont' mind sharing, how many reaches did you get into, and how many reaches did you apply to? i'm wondering what to expect when the decisions come around.

2 already (dream and safety), 1 next week (semi-reach they gave me a free application saved 70 bucks), and 2 more if i didn't get into my #1 ED (match, reach)

basically 5

Four- Penn State (top choice), Ohio State, South Carolina, and Georgia. Already admitted to the U. of South Carolina.

I'm planning on about six. I'd say if you have the means to apply to any number of colleges and you have an interest in all of them - why not?

Personally I wouldn't be able to handle more than ten. It seems like a lot of applications to keep track of. Plus it would suck really bad if you got like eight rejections on the same day.

3 if I get accepted ED. if no it'll be 4 :)

6 for me. All UC's!
